Applied Legal Ethics: From High School to Lifelong Legal Training for Practitioners
The conference will concentrate on the issues of applied legal ethics. Speakers are invited to share their opinions on whether and how high schools are preparing lawyers to deal with the issues of legal ethics in their everyday practice. Participants are encouraged to take part in philosophical and legal discussions on whether high schools have the potential to train future lawyers to respect and observe ethical principles at all? Or perhaps this is the responsibility of the family? Or, on the other hand, maybe everything depends on the moral calibre of the society? Moreover, the question may be raised whether persons who already are practicing lawyers need some training or help in this respect from their professional associations, as it is done, for example, in the USA having in mind counselling of lawyers (even using hotlines or seminars and classes provided to lawyers dealing with emerging ethical dilemmas in legal practice)? What models could be the most effective ones in making legal ethics applied and functioning? Speakers and participants of the conference are encouraged to share the examples of their successful experience in this field, if any.
These and other theoretical and practical issues related to applied legal ethics are the focus of the upcoming conference.
Legal practitioners and scholars conducting research in the field of law (as well as in related interdisciplinary fields) are invited to participate in the event.
This event is organized in cooperation with the Research Council of Lithuania (contract No. MIP-0202012).
