Master in International Business Law
Master’s degree programme in International Business Law (MIBL) is designed to prepare highly qualified experts in international business law who would be able to analyze business-related legal issues arising at international level, to take effective measures in order to solve business-related legal problems and to implement them in the international business environment.
The programme will focus mainly on the study of common principles of the international business regulation and comparative analysis of different national legal systems. The acquired special theoretical in-depth knowledge and practical skills in the field of international business regulation will enable students to have a thorough orientation in the international business environment and to solve business-related problems. At the completion of the Master’s studies the students will be able to work in any field which is related to international business.
The duration of the MIBL studies is 1,5 years (3 semesters): during the first two semesters students will take compulsory and optional courses and write term papers, while during the last semester they will prepare the final Master’s degree thesis.
The students will attend such courses as Company law, Tort law and Contract law, International private law and Dispute resolution, Finance and Tax law, European Union law, Environmental law, Agency law, Labour law, Property law, Intellectual property law, Competition law, International public law, Economics of Law, Economic crimes, Business law and Ethics, Banking law, Franchising law. The courses will be held by highly qualified professors from Lithuanian and foreign universities. The lectures will be taught both in English and Lithuanian, therefore students will have the possibility to acquire legal English language skills which is extremely important if one desires to work in the international business environment.
At the completion of the MIBL studies a Master’s degree in Law will be issued.
ACCESS REQUIREMENTS
The MIBL studies are open to persons with:
a bachelor’s degree (or equivalent degree) in law;
bachelor’s degree (or equivalent degree) in another field who have passed university-level examinations in the field of law of at least 12 credits (ECTS);
persons with vocational bachelor’s degree in law (or equivalent degree) who have passed university-level examinations in Legal Theory, Legal Discourse and, in addition, the examinations of legal subjects of at least 12 credits (ECTS).
The courses of additional law studies (12 – 24 credits (ECTS)) will be available for the applicants who have bachelor’s degree in another field than law and with the vocational bachelor’s degree in law. The additional studies should be completed during the first two semesters of Master’s studies.

Required documents
Together with the application form:
a copy of university diploma and its supplement (transcript of records / mark sheet) in the original language and translated into English, either (a) approved by “Apostille” – for citizens of countries acceding to the 1961 Hague Convention, (b) Legalized by the Centre of Quality Assessment in Higher Education in Lithuania – for other country’s citizens;
note on the average grade of a bachelor studies;
proof of English proficiency (TOEFL, IELTS, etc.);
letter of motivation (300 – 500 words);
curriculum vitae;
a copy of passport or other document of identification;
1 recent passport size photo (3 x 4 cm);
a copy of paid application fee receipt (name of applicant and date of payment must be indicated).
All application documents must arrive at the International Office at VMU by the application deadline and must be either in English or Lithuanian language. The translation must be certified by a Notary. Please note that incomplete or late application will not be processed.
Legalization of documents
Applicants who acquired their education in the countries not acceding to the 1961 Hague Convention should get a legalization of their educational documents by the Centre of Quality Assessment in Higher Education and recognition by the Ministry of Education in Lithuania. More information is available on the Centre’s website.

Arithmetic average of all examination grades listed in the bachelor’s diploma supplement (A)
Grade of the bachelor’s thesis (C)
Admission grade shall be calculated according to the formula: K=0.8A+0.2C
